Sailing and canoeing on the River Thames in Kingston

The social side of Minima

Burns Night, Saturday 22 January, 2022

All tickets are now sold for this year’s Burns Night celebration.  If you missed out but would still like to go, it is always possible that there will be a few returns.  Contact the Social Secretary at , if you would like to go on a waiting list.

For those coming on Saturday, everyone is reminded of the need to have a negative lateral flow test no more than 24 hours prior to the event, and preferably taken on the Saturday itself  Please also make frequent use of the hand sanitizer provided, especially in between dances.  If anyone has difficulty in getting a lateral flow test beforehand, let us know as we may be able to help with this on the night, as a last resort.
The bar will be open from 6 pm, with proceedings commencing at 6.30 pm when the Piper will start playing to welcome guests.  After this the traditional Burns’ supper will be served consisting of Cock-a-Leekie soup*, Haggis*, Neeps and Tatties, and a Scottish dessert (Cranachan).  (*Vegetarian alternative: leek and potato soup and vegetarian haggis – pre-ordered when booking.)

As for dress code, feel free to come as you are, though it will be a good opportunity to wear something Scottish, if you have it.  Loose clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended for the Scottish Dancing, after the supper!
