Minima Yacht Club hit the jackpot with Mediterranean style weather and a London sea breeze blowing in from the South for our 2014 Open Day. A team  of Club volunteers were kept busy all day, taking visitors out  in the Club's  sailing dinghies and canoes.  Our sailing fleet now includes two new Topaz Argos and a Mark IV Hartley Wayfarer. We are particularly pleased with the two new Argos which we bought last year with the help of a 100% Sport England grant and have proved to be perfect for training beginners.

All our visitors had booked in advance via our website or in person when walking past the Club, located on the riverside at Kingston-upon-Thames. When we counted the numbers at the end of the day, we found that we had taken 35 people out on the water, of whom 11 were children aged under 16 years. We also attracted many passers by and spectators during the day – too many to count!

All our new members have  offered places on an in-house sail training  and/or canoeing courses.   Our training is aimed particularly at families and children, and we are very optimistic about achieving our main objective of reestablishing a cadet section in the Club after a gap of several years.  We are traditionally a family club, but most of the children of existing members have grown up and gone to university!
