Minima Yacht Club 2013 sailing season kicks off with the Centenary Cup on Sunday 17 March, starting at 15:00 hours. This prestigious Cup was first awarded back in 1989, celebrating 100 years of the Club’s existence. The competition on the day is likely to be fierce as a bottle of champagne is at stake for the winners.

Steve and Pete Collins will be defending the Cup (see above) which they won in 2012 in their Wayfarer, ‘Arctic Fox’.

We have two more trophy events on the Easter Holiday weekend. The David Langley Commemorative Trophy will be held on Easter Sunday, 31 March starting at 14:00 hours and the pursuit race for Gordon’s Goblet will be held on the next day, Bank Holiday Monday, starting at 13:00 hours.

In April, Steve Collins and Rob Mayley, two of the Club’s most experienced sailors will be running ‘Sail Training and Launch Handling Training Sessions’ on three Sunday afternoons. These sessions are aimed at club beginners and improvers, but we are also pleased to welcome potential new members to these sessions. Please email to book a FREE place. The training sessions will be held on from 13:00 hours to 15:00 hours:
  • 7 April
  • 21 April
  • 28 April
Saturday evening racing starting at 18:30 hours (followed by a DIY Barbecue) begins on Saturday 13 April, and Wednesday evening racing starts on the 17 April.

The full sailing and social programme for 2013 is now available on the Event Calendar.

Have you walked along the river on a sunny day and wished that you could go out in a boat? If the answer is yes, please reserve Sunday 19 May in your diary for our ‘Push the Boat Out Day’ when Club Members will be pleased to take guests of all ages out for trips on the River. Watch this space for more details!
