Canoe Adventure to The Weir

Sunday's weather turned out fine and a small group of Canoeists set out early(ish) upstream on the Thames towards Hampton Court. It was originally proposed that we go Garricks Ait and turn around there but, in the end, we were feeling adventurous and decided to proceed further to Sunbury. We had been to the Weir pub on a previous adventure and knew the food was good.
The first stage to Hampton Court was a challenge though, due to a very strong headwind on that stretch of the river. Things got a bit easier once we got past the first lock though, and by the time we were through the second, we could smell the Sunday roast. At this stage, Jim was well in front and he was able to secure a good table for us and test that the beer was OK.

After our refuelling stop we headed back towards Kingston with a good wind behind us (I don't think that was anything to do with the cabbage). The return trip of 6 miles was completed in 2 hours.
