Canoe Adventure - 2014

posted 15 Apr 2014, 10:44 by Graham Morley   [ updated 15 Apr 2014, 10:46 ]
One of the first signs of summer at Minima Yacht Club is when the paddlers emerge from hibernation, just before the swallows return to the Clubhouse.

The paddlers decided, for their first canoe adventure of the year, to take the canoes back to the River Wey at Pyrford and paddle downstream to Weybridge, when the Wey joins Thames. The Canoe section has now paddled the entire length of the Wey from the navigable head of the navigation at Godalming to Weybridge in three separate Canoe Adventures.

Canoe adventures always finish with lunch on in a riverside pub, and on this occasion, the group paddled on to ‘The Weir’ at Sunbury, where their driver (Steve Collins) was waiting for them with the canoe trailer. After lunch, the canoes were loaded onto the trailer for the return to Minima, but Steve and Jim Dempsey decided to paddle on to Kingston arriving back at the dinghy park at 18:00 hours.

The next canoe adventure will take place on Saturday 10th May.
